HAC is Proud to Sponsor Smith Memorial Playground
We’re reaching out to share something close to our hearts here at HAC. For the last two years, our founder Steve Mavros has been a board member of Smith Memorial Playground. HAC is proud to share that our practice is sponsoring Party in the Playground, their annual adults-only fundraising benefit — and we'd love for you to join us.
Smith Memorial Playground is a true gem of Philadelphia and recently celebrated its 125 anniversary (capped off by a visit from Abbott Elementary going down the iconic slide). Their mission is one we believe in deeply: the power of play for children at no cost open to all.
Join Steve this year at Party in the Playground on Saturday, May 16, 2026. It’s a super fun, adults-only evening set both in the Playhouse AND the playground. Champagne down the slide anyone? The evening includes music, food, drinks, and an auction with items like World Cup tickets and historic artifacts from the playground. It's a wonderful night out and a meaningful way to give back.
We hope you'll consider joining us to celebrate, and if you can’t, don’t hesitate to send them a quick donation just for being the awesome space they are.
Meet Our Founder Steven Mavros, L.OM.
This year will mark 25 years of being an acupuncturist for Steve and 20 years since the official founding of the Healing Arts Center. Steve’s favorite story of becoming one of the few Fertility specialists in the field way back then was that his 3rd patient brought him the first ever study on Acupuncture and IVF published in 2001. She convinced him to accompany her to a clinic out in Plymouth Meeting, which doesn’t even exist anymore, to treat her before and after embryo transfer. He was so young at the time, the nurse that day thought she had brought her younger brother 😂.
Acupuncture for fertility was still so new that most people or physicians hadn’t even heard of it till years later and that fateful episode of Sex and the City when Charlotte got acupuncture to help her conceive.
These days you can find Steve with far too many projects on his hands. His current ones include spending time with incredibly smart and dedicated people helping to keep Smith Playground vibrant and free, managing a roofing project for his homeowner’s association which he still can’t figure out how he got roped into, and learning how to sew again to make every costume from Wicked for his musical theater obsessed kiddos.
Luckily, he still manages to find time to see patients in our Old City office and continues to be one of the most dedicated and experienced women’s health and fertility acupuncturist around.
