Helping You Through That Chest Tightness

Ear Acupuncture for Anxiety

Anxiety manifests in so many ways in the body. For some, it’s an upset stomach. For some, it’s a racing mind that doesn’t stop especially at night. For others, it feels like a bull is sitting on your chest and no matter how you stretch you feel like you can’t take a full breath.

We’ve had a lot of patients coming in with that chest tightening feeling and have been grateful at how fast Acupuncture is letting people finally take that deep breath they’ve been craving. Even if you’re coming in for back pain or headaches, points that help the body deal with stress and anxiety are almost always a part of the treatment. You’ll often see these spots either in the ears, the chest or the top of the feet.

Our favorite is an acupuncture point called Shenmen in the ear which translates to Gate of the Spirit. Research conducted by the Air Force showed that stimulating this point may not only modulate the stress hormone cortisol (which goes up and down throughout intense periods of stress) but may prevent certain forms of PTSD. Given all the stressors of the pandemic and everything else we’re dealing with these days, points like this fit perfectly to help everyone stay a little saner.

It doesn’t hurt that every treatment has a built it acu nap! Feeling that stress and anxiety? We’ve got you. You can find more info and some research on Acupuncture for Stress & Anxiety Page.
